How to Enrole as a team member
Oak Tree Farm provides training and supported occupation for adults with learning disabilities, known as Team Members, in a rural setting.
The project gives opportunity, support and encouragement for people to learn and improve their skills. It gives purposeful occupation to Team Members enabling them to have an active role in society.
Team Members gain experience in horticulture; growing plants, vegetables and cut flowers in our greenhouses, polytunnels, growing field or in the cottage garden.
They also assist with animal care looking after our beef cattle, goats, poultry and small animals.
Team Members have the opportunity to take part in pottery sessions, making ceramics of all kinds, which are then sold in our shop.
Some Team Members take part in Acorn Garden Services (AGS) carrying out gardening work in the community.
Our ‘Oak Leaf Tea Room’ gives catering and customer services experience to Team Members.
Team Members attend Oak Tree Farm on a part time basis, to fit in with their other weekly commitments. For most Team Members their sessions are funded by Direct Payments, this is local authority funding agreed by their Social Worker. Some Team Members are privately funded.
