Our Plants

Unfortunately the farm is closed, but the plants are not going to waste.  We have been able to get plants out to our Team Members, residential care homes, organisations and schools, all to benefit people with learning disabilities by providing activities during the lockdown.

Coronavirus Update - 17 March 2020 - Oak Tree Farm Closed

Coronavirus Update - 17 March 2020 - Oak Tree Farm Closed

This is a Joint Communication from Oak Tree Farm Rural Project and New Directions Support

On 16th March 2020 the government updated their advice in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The advice is that those people at increased risk of severe illness from coronavirus should now be particularly stringent in following social distancing measures. This group specifically mentions those people with chronic neurological conditions, such as a learning disability or cerebral palsy.

The advice can be found here. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-on-social-distancing-and-for-vulnerable-people/guidance-on-social-distancing-for-everyone-in-the-uk-and-protecting-older-people-and-vulnerable-adults

Given this specific advice, and also the advice from government for people to avoid gatherings in public spaces such as pubs, cinemas, restaurants, theatres, bars, and clubs, the management of both Oak Tree Farm Rural Project and New Directions Support now have no choice but to close the respective services.

We are very sorry to have to take this action but we know that everyone will understand that the health and safety of our Team Members and staff is always our priority.

Both services will be closed until further notice and we will issue further updates via Facebook and our websites. In addition, you can also phone the services for updates.

We are aware that some people may now be caring for vulnerable people and may require help and advice. Whilst the situation is unfolding we would signpost anyone with questions about the virus and what to do, to the NHS 111 site which can be found at https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19

Our best wishes and we hope to see everyone soon

David Moreton: General Manager, Oak Tree Farm Rural Project

Warren Low: Chief Officer, New Directions Support
