Caretaker position available with on-site accommodation included
Position:
We are looking for an unpaid caretaker for our farm for evening and weekend animal care, a position that comes with the requirement to occupy our part furnished 2 bed cottage. This will not interfere with any day time occupation you may already have and is not a full time role on the farm.
Responsibilities:
Animal Care
At weekends and bank holidays - to release our chickens, ducks, guinea pigs and goats in the mornings and lock them up in the evenings at dusk. To check and replenish feed, water and bedding for the animals. We also have 6 cows to feed that over winter in the barn from December to March. Training will be provided.
On weekdays - to lock the animals up at dusk.
Plant Care
To water plants as directed. This can take up to 2 hours per evening during the summer months (when including the animal welfare requirement).
Security
To be on site every night unless on holiday. Respond to emergencies. Ensure security of buildings, lock/close gates etc. as necessary and monitor out-of-hours visitors. Occasionally overseeing the use of the Tea Room, which may include unlocking/locking up.
Person Specification:
Caretaker must be able to drive due to the rural location. Must be physically fit in order to move hosepipes around to water plants and look after the animals.
Pay and Cost
This is an unpaid role, but comes with free 2 bed cottage accommodation.
(£100 per month payable to Oak Tree Farm for services - gas, electric, water. Caretaker to pay own council tax and contents insurance and phone bill).
