Pottery
We have a part time potter who leads the pottery team. They make stoneware and terracotta planters and garden pots as well as other decorative ceramics and house wares for sale in the shop on site. Team Members designs are used where possible. Hand building, slip casting, fettling, decorating and glazing are all done by Team Members prior to firing. We have two kilns, the larger one can accommodate a planter or bird bath twenty inches tall. A slab roller, extruder and a mould tipper enable the team to create the pots surprisingly quickly. The moulds themselves are also made in the pottery out of plaster of paris when a new design is needed.
Team Members work on their own projects as well. This work has been exhibited, although in the main it is for their own personal satisfaction.
